The short version: the estimates here are research, not a quote, and no one can bind a shop to them but the shop.

What the estimates are
Every cost figure and estimator result on BatteryJoule is a research estimate, built from published prices and dated on the page it appears. It is not a quote, not an offer, and not a promise that any shop will do the work for that money. Real prices move with your ZIP code, your car's exact configuration, the state of the rest of the vehicle, and what a given shop has in stock the week you call. Treat our range as the number that tells you whether the quote in your hand is reasonable, not as the number you're entitled to.
The replace, refurbish, or sell verdict is our reasoned opinion applied to the values you type in. You know things about your car that we don't. Where our verdict and your judgment disagree, yours should probably win.
Not professional advice
Nothing here is mechanical, financial, or legal advice, and using this site doesn't make us your mechanic or your advisor. High-voltage traction batteries carry lethal current and are not a driveway project. Diagnosis and replacement belong with a qualified technician. We're not liable for what happens if you skip that step.
No warranty, and the limit of our liability
The site is provided as-is. We compile it with real care from sources we name, but we don't warrant that every figure is accurate, current, or fit for your situation, and prices in this market go stale quickly. To the fullest extent the law allows, BatteryJoule is not liable for any loss arising from decisions you make using this site, including money spent on a repair that turned out to be the wrong call. If a figure is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it, which is the remedy we can actually offer.

Content and reuse
Editorial text on BatteryJoule is original work by the site author. Quote it with attribution and a link for academic, journalistic, or educational use. Republishing whole articles, or scraping the cost data to rebuild the tables elsewhere, requires permission via hello@batteryjoule.com.
Photographs and video are published under the license named in each caption and credit line, and those licenses belong to their photographers, not to us. Follow the credit back to the source before reusing any image.
What you send us
If you email us a quote, a correction, or a photo, you're giving us permission to publish it, in whole or in part, usually stripped of anything identifying. Tell us if you'd rather we didn't and we won't. Don't send us anything confidential or anything you don't have the right to share.
External links
We link out constantly, because a cost claim with no source is just an assertion. Those sites have their own terms and privacy policies, and we don't control what they publish or how they change.
Changes
When these terms change we'll update the date at the top. Continuing to use the site after that means the new version applies. Questions go to hello@batteryjoule.com.
